Rules, Guidelines, and Policies
Rules & Guidelines for USERS:
1. No Advertising
a. This includes channels, webpages, your facebook/twitter, servers, etc.
b. We do not advertise our channel; and we'd expect you to show the same respect.
2. Typing in Capital letters
a. This is considered 'yelling' & rude on IRC.
b. all CAPS become an annoyance to users in the channel.
3. Colors, PopUps, & ASCII art
a. Not all users have a Windows® client.
b. They disrupt the chat (and help) that is in the channel.
c. Some users use different colored backgrounds, texts, etc.
4. Messaging
a. It's disrespectful to just /msg a user without asking them beforehand (or knowing the user prior).
b. Some users are chatting (or helping) in the channel & prefer to keep it that way.
c. If you would like to limit the amount of messages you get; use +R or +C (Registered nicks only/Common channel).
d. Any auto-messages will get you kicked (and/or banned). (mass-messaging).
e. If you want to ignore a user; use /ignore nickname
5. Co-Channel(s)
a. You may not be in any channels related to pedophilia, beastiality, or incest.
b. If a channel is known for inappropriate behavior; it may be added to our bots auto-kick list. (You will get a msg prior)
6. Operator (@) & Voice (+) Begging
a. Becoming an op takes more then just asking.
b. If you're asking to be an operator; you're probably not ready to be one.
c. This may (or may not) get your kicked (and/or banned)
d. Ops & Voices are chosen by the current staff based on various factors.
e. If you're voiced by Op1, don't expect to be re-voiced every time you join.
7. Language(s)
a. The preferred language is English; however, if there is an operator (@) present that is able to chat/assist you in another language,
it's fine.
b. There are help & chat channels for every language. If you need help finding a channel that better suits you, simply ask!
8. Offensive Behavior(s)
a. Any inappropriate words (ie: swear/cuss words) will result in a removal from the channel.
b. Race, Religion, sexual preferences, age, gender, etc. are not issues in our channel & we will not allow a user to be mistreated.
9. Flooding
a. Multiple lines of text at one period of time is considered flooding.
b. Repeating the same question(s)/phrase(s) over & over again will also trigger as flooding. (aka: repeating)
10. Status
a. When you set /away; we do not need it to inform us every 5 minutes that you're away. (30 minute minimum repeat)
b. Every status should respect his/her superiors. A user should respect voices, voices to AOps, and so-forth.
c. Do not advertise any channels/webpages/facebook/twitter on your /away message(s). (Official channels are exempt).
11. Bots/Robots
a. Only authorized bots are allowed to be used in the channel.
b. Users are never to run a bot in the channel without having prior permission.
c. Know how to control the script(s) you're using. We want users to be active & alive. We have our own bots to watch the channel &
idle.
12. Scripts
a. You must be able to control your script(s) at all times. Malfunctions are your responsibility.
b. Make sure you have any !seen, !weather commands off (/remote off) while in the channel.
13. Disagreements
a. Any/all disagreements are to be in private. Do not clutter our channel with any drama you have with another user.
b. If you have a disagreement with an operator (@); just remember, the op is right.
c. In extreme cases, you may go to a superior operator (@) for concerns.
14. Chatting
a. We encourage users to chat in the channel. You may have an on-topic/off-topic conversation.
b. It's IRC, the most important thing is that you enjoy yourself while connected. Don't stress!
15. Idling, Guests, Helping
a. Idling is permitted.
b. Guest nicknames
are permitted, though we encourage users to use a nickname. Use /nick NICKhere; or ask an operator (@) about changing your nickname.
c. Helping is always encouraged. Keep in mind, voices & operators may (or may not) take over the helping responsibility. They will also message you with any concerns with you helping (If any should occur).
16. On-Topic & Off-Topic Conversation(s)
The following are on-topic conversation(s) & take priority over chatting in #html.
a. MarkUp (html, xhtml, and xml)
b. Website Functionality (Tubmblr, Wordpress blogs, Forums, Ecommerece, CMS, etc.)
c. Graphics, Multi-Media, Flash (Flash, graphics, Audio, Video, etc.)
d. Client-Side Scripting (AJAX, DHTML, DOM, JavaScript, Web 2.0, etc.)
e. Website configuration & design
f. Anything else, not
mentioned above that is assisted with in #html is considered to be off-topic conversation. If someone in the channel is being helped, or chatting about one of the topic above, off-topic conversation should be stopped. Help takes priority over chatting!
DISCLAIMER:
The operators (@) & voices (+) are there to assist you; when needed. The Operators (@) are also there to enforce the channel rules/policies. If you break any of the rules that are listed above, you may find yourself kicked out of the channel. When you're KICKED, you're able to instantly rejoin; however, take the kick as your warning. You've done something that was wrong. If you continue to break the channel policies, you'll find yourself Kick/Banned. When you're KICK/BANNED, you're unable to rejoin the channel for a period of time. This time is determined by the operator (@) in which placed the ban. If we are having to kick/ban you from the channel on a regular basis, or for the same thing; we reserve the right to add you to our AKICK list. AKick (also known as Auto Kicked) means that when you join the channel, you will instantly be BANNED by CHANSERV (or one of the channel bots in certain circumstances). Our AKicks last anywhere from 14 to 45 days (and longer). If a user is caught evading a ban (or an akick), we reserve the right to report you to DALnet's IRCOp Team; in which
they will remove you from the entire network. (Ban/Akick evading is a network policy).
We are here to help, and chat with you. We're here for the same reason(s) that you are. When we have to take time out of our days to address issues that you may (or may not have caused), it doesn't make us very happy. We'll treat you with respect, and would appreciate if you'd how us the same respect. If this is the case, we'll get along just fine!
